Lake Thunderbird in central Oklahoma is located just east of Norman. Lake Thunderbird, also known as “T-Bird” or “Dirty Bird”, has miles of shoreline and 6,070 surface acres. Lake Thunderbird, which is close to the Oklahoma City metro area, provides a great spot for hiking, camping, fishing, and water sports.

Blue water, oak trees and rolling hills charm millions of Norman visitors each year. Lake Thunderbird’s 7,000 acres allow plenty of room for various water activities. Sandy beaches and more than 5,500 acres of Lake Thunderbird State Park horseback riding, dining, sailing, camping, windsurfing, water skiing, fishing, boating, hiking, swimming, mountain biking, hunting, bingo and a zoo can occupy your time while visiting the Lake Thunderbird area.

Information and nature centers, RV hookups, camping sites that include picnic tables and grills are located throughout the park.

Lakeside dining, horse riding stables, miniature golf and a gift store will round out your weekend adventure.
