New Lake Hefner Record

A new lake record was set at Lake Hefner for Striped Bass when Clidell Woody caught this 16.1 pounder on March 18th.  The old record was 14.8 pounds set by Glen Burling in 2010.

Clidell caught it on the west side of Hefner near the spillway.  He was fishing for catfish using cut shad.

Hybrids arrive in Lake Hefner via the North Canadian River from Canton Lake.

Striped bass hybrids are a hatchery-raised cross between stripers and white bass and are favorites with fishermen because they are fierce fighters.

Skiatook Fishing Report

Lake Skiatook Oklahoma fishing report
Fishing Guide David Clark of Fish On! Guide Service sends us this report from Lake Skiatook:

What a great afternoon we had on Sept. 6th. I needed to go fish Skiatook for a couple of trips coming up, so my Brother-in-law and I went for a few hours.

We started fishing about 3 and when we quit at 6 we had caught around 25 fish, with 15 of them being nice Hybrids. The biggest was this 9lber.

We had some more in the 4 to5 lb range. It was a nice cool day with cloud cover. We did mange to catch a few on top when the top water action came around the boat, but most were caught on downlines in 25ft to 31ft of water. The water temperature was 77 degrees.

Editor’s Note: Thanks for the report and picture David. What a nice fish! Wish I would of been out there with you!! If you would like to go fishing with David, call him at 918-724-6786 or visit his website at www.FishOnOK.com.

We have been catching a hundred fish a day, and I know that sounds unbelievable but I`m being honest. Fishing has been fantastic and will probably be good into the first of December. Come down and we`ll go out and get a cooler full!!

Tom Steed Hybrids Biting

Lake Tom Steed Hybrids are biting.
Aspiring pro Mike Diehl sends us this report from Lake Tom Steed:

Well Doug, it’s like you always say, “the weather only bothers the person fishing and not the fish”. The clouds were pretty dark this morning but I’m glad I decided to go fishing.

I caught these two huge Hybrids today throwing a small crank along the banks while bass fishing. These two Hybrids are a personal best for me and the fight was just fantastic. The hit and the hook-set was unbelievable, it felt like my rod and reel were about to be ripped out of my hands.

If I may, I would like to thank Russell and Dawnita Allard at the Windmill Winery in Roosevelt, OK for the use of their farm equipment. Without their help, I would still be moving dirt and rock around the house instead of enjoying the great sport of fishing.

Editor’s Note: Way to go Mike! How’s the wine?

Fort Cobb Fishing Report

OKFG subscriber Nick C. sends us this report from Lake Fort Cobb:

Hybrids and walleyes were doing pretty good about 8 pm on west side of lake just north of the island. We caught the hybrids on top water lures and the walleyes trolling.

Editor’s Note: Thanks for the report Nick! Did you take any pictures that you would like to share with us?
