The Purcell City Lake area offers visitors a scenic lake with paved road around it for easy access. A fishing dock and numerous boat ramps give access to 150 acres of water for fishing and kayaking. The lake also sports a swimming beach, sand volleyball, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic areas, RV park, and the challenging 18-hole Dragon Disc Golf Course. A walking trail gives people a chance to walk or bike on a paved stretch by the lake edge. Many acres of grassland and wildflowers surrounds the entire area.
Near the lake is the Purcell Multipurpose Center which has basketball courts, tennis courts, and banquet rooms for rent. Next door is the 18-hole Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course. Numerous restaurants feed all types of appetites, and the lake is easily accessible with the nearby ramp to I-35.
Purcell City Lake has hosted numerous bass fishing tournaments in the past. The City Parks & Recreation Department has been working with Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation to improve fish habitat and fishing for our Oklahoma anglers and wildlife enthusiasts.
