Webber Falls Reservoir lies about 3 miles upstream from the historic falls, where many steamboat captains were forced to drop anchor and unload goods when water was low.
At one time, this area was the most important steamboat landing between Fort Gibson & Fort Smith. Near the upper reaches of the lake is Fort Gibson Stockade, once one of the most important military establishments on the western frontier.
Webbers Falls Lock and Dam is located on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System and is located at navigation mile 368.9 about 5 miles northwest of the town of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma.
There are 8 recreation areas on the lake and 2 downstream from the dam, all equipped with excellent facilities.
Sportspeople will find recreation opportunities at Webbers Falls Lake the year around. For the fisherman the predominate species of fish in the lake are catfish, white bass, black bass, crappie, bream, walleye, sauger, buffalo, carp and a rapidly growing population of striped bass. Many have predicted that the striped bass will reach weights in excess of forty pounds in Oklahoma waters.
There are three recreation areas on the lake that offer many opportunities for water oriented activities. The facilities at these areas include designated campsites, picnic areas, boat launching ramps, drinking water, swimming beaches, and sanitary facilities.
